Can AI Actually Read Your Website?

When someone asks ChatGPT for a business like yours, you are either in the answer or you do not exist. Find out in ten seconds whether these systems can even read your site.

  • Free, no signup
  • About ten seconds
  • Twelve checks

Every site lands in one of these. Which one are you?

  1. Invisible
  2. Findable
  3. Competitive
  4. Dominant

We fetch a few of your public pages and send short excerpts to Anthropic for one of the checks. See our privacy policy and terms.

What This Checks

Twelve Things, In Four Groups

Findability

Whether your robots.txt lets the crawlers behind AI answers reach you at all.

Readability

Whether your words are in the page source, and whether your titles say anything useful.

Quotability

Whether you publish real prices, specific numbers, and answers to actual questions.

Credibility

Whether anyone besides you vouches for your business. This is the part we ask you about.

Why this matters more than it did a year ago

Search used to be a list. Someone typed a few words, got ten links, and your job was to be one of them. If you were fourth you still got clicks.

An AI answer has no room. Someone asks for a contractor near them and gets two or three names in a sentence. There is no fourth place, and you will never know it happened. No ranking drop, no alert. A prospect asked, got three names, and called one of them.

Before any of that can go your way, these systems have to be able to reach your site, read it, and find something specific enough to be worth repeating. That is what this tool measures. It is the floor, not the ceiling, but a surprising number of good businesses are quietly failing it because of one line in a file they have never opened.

What it cannot tell you, and why we say so

Five of the twelve depend on things no outside tool can see: your Google Business Profile, your Bing listing, whether you appear on other reputable sites, how recent your reviews are, and whether your business details match everywhere they appear. Those are not minor. On the evidence available they matter at least as much as anything on your website. So the tool asks you rather than guessing, and it labels every row so you always know whether a result was measured, assessed, or self reported.

One check, whether your pages answer their question early, is judged by an AI model reading your opening paragraphs. That is a judgement rather than a measurement, and it is labelled that way too. If it cannot run, the tool says so and scores the rest instead of inventing a result.

What to do with your score

Fix them roughly in order. The early ones are cheap and decisive. If your robots.txt is blocking crawlers or your content only appears after JavaScript runs, nothing else you do will matter until those are fixed. If you passed the technical checks but stumbled on pricing and specifics, that is a writing problem, not a development one, and you can fix it yourself in an afternoon.

For the fuller picture, read the twelve question self audit this tool is based on, or the guide to how small businesses get found by AI. If you would rather someone just looked at it, request a free website audit and I will go through your site by hand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. There is no signup, no card, and no limit worth worrying about. Your score and the full pass or fail list are yours to keep. The only thing behind an email is the ordered fix list, which I put together for your site specifically.

Built by someone who does this for a living

I am Mel, a web designer in East Bethel, Minnesota. I build sites for small businesses across Forest Lake, Anoka County, and the Twin Cities, and every one of them ships readable to these systems from day one. If your score turned up something you would rather not fix yourself, that is what I do.
